Unemployment Numbers by State: Double Digit Unemployment Hits Hard

There are now 8 states with double digit unemployment with Indiana the most recent to join the group. Since the start of the recession in December 2007, the US economy has lost roughly 5.1 million jobs with 633,000 job losses added just last month. More importantly, economists see the national unemployment average reaching 10%+ by the end of the year despite signs of economic recovery. Below is a breakdown of unemployment rates by state.
